Screening: The Story of the Green Line

The film “The Story of the Green Line” (2026) of Panicos Chrysanthou is screened today at Attikon, Open Air. Starring Michalis Sofokleous, Cihan Tariman. A story set on the “green line” of Nicosia, where a wall of barrels and barbed wire separates a city – and a country – that was once united. Kypros iss sent there to serve in the place of a colleague who was killed because he entered the buffer zone. He quickly discovers that one of the soldiers on the other side, Murat, is living at his home in the occupied territories. When Murat goes on leave to the village, he brings Cyprus a gift from his home, a family photo, in which his dead father is also present. This photo upsets Cyprus so much that he does things beyond reason. When Murat suggests that they each make a secret journey to the “other side”, he accepts without thinking about the consequences.
